Gedicht voll trüber Todesahnung, wohl aus ihrem letzten
Lebensjahr. Sie hatte neben ihrer "Hütte" ein kleines
Gärtchen, in dem sie Jahraus, Jahrein, Blumen pflegte. Auch eine
Pappel stand in der Nähe."

il y a longtemps qu’a dépéri la reine
des chaudes lunes d’été,
la gracieuse rose.
Superbe dahlia,
tu ne dresses plus ta corolle !
Mon grand peuplier lui-même
le voilà déjà à moitié déplumé.
Moi qui ne suis ni peuplier
ni douce rose gracile,
pourquoi est-ce que je ne m’étiole pas
alors que la rose elle-même a dépéri ?
