Sec tranquil•lament al pendís del tossal, el cel és tan clar, l’oreig juga a la verda vall, allà on als primers esclats de primavera, antany, ai, vaig ser tan feliç; on caminava al seu costat tan confident i tan proper, i, al fons de la fosca font del rocam, veia reflectir el cel blau i clar i a ella entremig. Mira com la primavera virolada ens esguarda des de les poncelles i les flors! Per a mi no totes les flors són iguals, prefereixo les de la branca on ella les collia. Car tot és com era abans, les flors, els camps; el sol no brilla pas menys clar, i no menys gentilment es reflexa a la font la imatge del cel blau. Tan sols canvien voluntats i il•lusions, varien els desigs i els combats; lluny s’envola el goig de l’amor i només resta l’amor, l’amor i, ai las, també la pena! Oh, si solament pogués ser un ocellet allà, al pendís de la prada, llavors restaria a aquella branca i d’ella cantaria una dolça cançó tot el temps de l’estiu.
