«Z’їzdili mi Pol'šču
I vsju Ukraїnu,
A ne bačili takoї,
Jak se Katerina».
Odin kaže: «Brate,
Jakbi ja bagatij,
To oddav bi vse zoloto
Ocij Katerini
Za odnu godinu».
Drugij kaže: «Druže,
Jakbi ja buv dužij,
To oddav bi ja vsju silu
Za odnu godinu
Ocij Katerini».
Tretij kaže: «Diti,
Nema togo v sviti,
Čogo b meni ne zrobiti
Dlja ciєї Katerini
Za odnu godinu».

Katerina zadumalas'
I tret'omu kaže:
«Єst' u mene brat єdinij
U nevoli vražij!
U Krimu des' propadaє,
Chto jogo dostane,
To toj meni, zaporožci,
Družinoju stane».
Razom povstavali,
Konej posidlali,
Poїchali vizvoljati

Odin utopivsja
U Dniprovim girli,
Drugogo v Kozlovi
Na kil posadili.
Tretij, [Ivan] Jarošenko,
Slavnij vdovičenko,
Z ljutoї nevoli
Iz Bakčisaraju
Brata vizvoljaє.

Zaskripili rano dveri
U velikij chati.
Vstavaj, vstavaj, Katerino,
Brata zostričati.
Katerina podivilas'
Ta j zagolosila:
«Ce ne brat mij, ce mij milij,
JA tebe durila...»
«Odurila!..» — I Katrina
Dodolu skotilas'
Golovon'ka... «Chodim, brate,
Z poganoї chati».
Poїchali zaporožci
Viter doganjati.
Katerinu čornobrivu
V poli pochovali,
A slavniї zaporožci
