От ложа встану я и город обойду,
На улицах тебя, на торжищах найду.
Искала я тебя -- напрасно я искала,
Звала тебя к себе -- напрасно призывала!
Мне стражи встретились в полуночной тиши;
"Не знаете ль -- где он, возлюбленный души?"
Не знали -- я прошла... но вскоре и нежданно
Я встретилась с тобой, бледна и бездыханна...
Нашла тебя -- нашла и крепко обняла,
И не пускала прочь, пока не увела
В дом нашей матери, под сень того чертога,
Где мать нас зачала и поболела много...
