Translation by Lev Aleksandrovich Mey (1822 - 1862)

Na lozhe devich'em, v polunochnoj tishi
Language: Russian (Русский)  after the Latin
Na lozhe devich'em, v polunochnoj tishi,
Iskala ja tebja, vozljublennyj dushi:
Iskala ja tebja -- naprasno vse iskala,
Zvala k sebe -- naprasno prizyvala:
Ot lozha vstanu ja i gorod obojdu,
Na ulicakh tebja, na torzhishchakh najdu.
Iskala ja tebja -- naprasno ja iskala,
Zvala tebja k sebe -- naprasno prizyvala!
Mne strazhi vstretilis' v polunochnoj tishi;
"Ne znajete l' -- gde on, vozljublennyj dushi?"
Ne znali -- ja proshla... no vskore i nezhdanno
Ja vstretilas' s toboj, bledna i bezdykhanna...
Nashla tebja -- nashla i krepko obnjala,
I ne puskala proch', poka ne uvela
V dom nashej materi, pod sen' togo chertoga,
Gde mat' nas zachala i pobolela mnogo...
