The gentle Zephyr stirs the tranquil air before the dawn, to honour the Sun’s return, and wakes from sleep the waters and the earth, making the lakes and rivers everywhere ripple and murmur, making the meadow flowers prepare to unfold their coloured tapestries. The birds excel already in the trees, delighting travellers in the early hours; and in the moonlight nymphs already prance, treading the grasses in a playful dance. Zephyr, will you invite me to this feast? Will I too be renewed by your agency? Cause my Sun to return and you will see how strikingly my beauty is increased.
