Waait mij nu zoetjes, o zuchtende winde; wiegt mij en douwt mij dat zuilende kind; speelt om zijn wichtelijk aanzichtje en laat Jesuken rusten; het slapen nu gaat. Palmen, die roerende en wagende zijt, stilt om mijn kindeke uw takken 'nen tijd; engelkens zoetjes, ach, Jesuken wilt slapen: uw' tonge en uw' harpe nu stilt. Vogelkes zwijgt, die daar huppelt en springt; dauwdruppels, zoetjes en belt noch en klinkt; zonne, uw machtige stralen verfrist: 't kindeke Jezus . . . in slape . . . nu is 't!
