Irdische und himmlische Liebe
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Italian (Italiano)
Available translation(s): ENG FRE
Zur Schönheit meine Blicke suchend gleiten,
Es sucht die Seele Seligkeit zugleich;
Den Weg in's Himmelreich
Vermägen sie nur schauend zu beschreiten.
Aus höchsten Sternenweiten
Herniederglänzt ein Schimmer,
Den Trieb empor zu leiten;
Wir nennen's Liebe! Nimmer
Wird And'res zünden! Immer
Wird Gluth und Klarheit edlen Herzen werden
Durch Augen, die wie Sterne sind auf Erden!

My eyes roam searchingly for beauty
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
My eyes roam searchingly for beauty,
And bliss the soul is searching for as well;
They path towards heaven's realm,
Lies before them only when they're open.
Down from the highest seas of stars above
A glimmer shines
That leads the instinct upward;
We call it love!  Nothing
Else will ever turn to flame! Fervor
and clarity arise forever in noble hearts
Through eyes that are like stars on earth!
