Lust der Sturmnacht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FRE ITA
[Wenn]1 durch Berg und Tale draußen
Regen schauert, Stürme brausen,
Schild und Fenster hell erklirren,
Und in Nacht die Wandrer irren,

Ruht es sich so süß hier innen,
Aufgelöst in sel'ges Minnen;
All der goldne Himmelsschimmer
Flieht herein ins stille Zimmer:

Reiches Leben, hab Erbarmen!
Halt mich fest in linden Armen!
Lenzesblumen aufwärts dringen,
Wölklein ziehn und [Vöglein]2 singen.

Ende nie, du Sturmnacht, wilde!
Klirrt, ihr Fenster, schwankt, ihr Schilde,
Bäumt euch, Wälder, braus, o Welle,
Mich umfängt des Himmels Helle!

Gioia della notte tempestosa
Language: Italian (Italiano)  after the German (Deutsch)
Quando fuori, dalla montagna e dalla valle
scroscia la pioggia, ululano le tempeste,
porte e finestre stridono forte,
e nella notte errano i viandanti,

si sta in dolce pace qui dentro,
perduti in beati amori;
tutto lo splendore aureo del cielo
vola qui dentro nella quieta stanza:

ricca vita, abbi pietà!
Tienimi stretto nelle care braccia!
Fiori primaverili germogliano,
passano nuvolette e cantano uccellini.

Non finire mai, selvaggia notte di tempesta!
Stridete, finestre, sbattete porte,
ondeggiate boschi, mugghiate onde,
io sto nell'abbraccio della luce celeste!
