I dreamt that in the forest I was a tree laden with blossoms; Along came the loveliest maiden With light steps. She approached the tree and gazed Upon it so wondrously; Thereupon I let blossoms rain down Into her curly, golden hair. And as they touched the maiden The blossoms were immediately Transformed into love songs. How they sounded rejoicingly through the forest! But I, I awoke And heard a musical ringing so far away. Ah! had I remembered the songs, I would so love to sing them to her!
