Träufte mir von Seegen, dieser Mann,

Was er mir gethan.

Er entschlief; sie gruben ihn hier ein.
Leiser, süsser Trost, von Gott [gegeben]2,

Scenda la pace su questa lapide!
La dolce pace divina.
Hanno sepolto un uomo buono,
e per me era anche di più.

Mi riempiva di benedizioni,
come una stella di mondi più belli.
Non riuscirò mai a ripagare
Quello che lui mi ha dato.
 
Ora dorme, ed è sepolto qui,
possano il dolce conforto divino
e un presagio di vita eterna
discendere sulle sue ossa

fino al momento in cui Gesù Cristo, in grandezza e gloria,
lo ridesterà con amore. Ma ora lo hanno sepolto!
Hanno sepolto un uomo buono,
e per me anche di più.
