Když v slunci západním jak v růžích řeka plane a teplý, tichý dech vlá v spícím obilí, tu z celé přírody až v srdce rada kane, být šťastným — aspoň na chvíli! To štěstí vyčerpat, že žijem’, dokud plna je mládím žití číš a večer spanilý, neb stejně spějem’ v nic, jak uniká ta vlna do moře — my v stín mohyly.
