e dove abbaia per primo un cane in lontananza
da lì il mio promesso sposo sta arrivando.

"E mentre albeggiava, attraverso il boschetto
Vidi sgusciare via un gatto,
lo colpii sul pelo bruno,
balzò in avanti con un gran salto!
Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!"
 
Peccato per il mio pelo, ma non mi prendi!
Deve essere come gli altri il mio amore:
bruno e con una barba quadrata all'ungherese
e allegro e vagabondo il suo bel cuore.
