Wenn der Stern überm Kirchthurm steht Mitten in der Nacht, Weiß ich, wo der Weg hingeht Mitten in der Nacht. Mägdlein, das wartet mein, Wartet mein zum Stelldichein, Giebt mir in Kauf Alle seine Lieb' und Huld, Ach! du liebe Ungeduld! Sternlein zieh' auf! Klingling! ans Fensterlein Überm Spalier, Klettre wie die Katz hinein Übers Spalier, Und in meinem Sinn voraus Mal' ich mir die Freude aus, Freuden zu Hauf, Lös' ihr alle Zöpfelein, Nestel' ihr alle Knöpfelein -- Fensterlein auf!
