Vorm Osttor stehn die Weiden
Mit Zweigen hoch und dicht.
„Dahin laß dich bescheiden,
Ich komm' im Abendlicht.“
Der Abendstern schon bricht
Hervor, um zu bekleiden
Mit goldnem Saum die Weiden,
Und sie erscheinet nicht.

Vorm Ostthor stehn die Weiden 
Mit Zweigen hoch und dicht.
