Wie rasch du auch vorüberschrittest
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  FRE
Wie rasch du auch vorüberschrittest,
Noch einmal schautest du zurück,
Der Mund, wie fragend, kühngeöffnet,
Stürmischer Hochmut in dem Blick.

O, daß ich nie zu fassen suchte
Das weiße flüchtige Gewand!
Die holde Spur der kleinen Füße,
O, daß ich nie sie wiederfand!

Verschwunden ist ja deine Wildheit,
Bist wie die Andern zahm und klar,
Und sanft und unerträglich gütig,
Und ach! nun liebst du mich sogar!

Comme tu passais rapidement devant moi
Language: French (Français)  after the German (Deutsch)
Comme tu passais rapidement devant moi,
Encore une fois tu as regardé derrière toi,
La bouche ouverte dans une audacieuse interrogation,
Le regard empli d'un fougueux orgueil.

Ô que n'ai-je tenté de saisir
Ta robe blanche fugitive !
La gracieuse trace de tes petits pieds,
Ô, que je ne retrouverai jamais !

Ton impétuosité a bien disparu,
Comme les autres, tu es clairement soumise,
Douce et insupportablement complaisante,
Et, hélas ! Maintenant tu m'aimes !
