Kam der Jäger, brummte was: "So ein Herz, was schert mich das, frag weiter!" Fragt' ich die Wege auf und ab, keiner mein Herz mir wieder gab, weg war es! Kam zuletzt des [Hufschmieds]2 Kind: "Mädel, sahst du kein Herz im Wind?" Lachte sie leis: "Hat's auch der Wind nicht, hast du doch keins, du dauerst mich, Bub, da, nimm meins, aber halt's fest!

Vint une petite mère. « Avec votre permission, avez-vous mon cœur ? » La vieille était sourde, ne fit qu'un signe. Vint le chasseur,, il grommela : « Un tel cœur, que m'importe, demande plus loin ! » Je demandai du haut en bas du chemin, personne ne me rendit mon cœur, il était parti ! Vint enfin le fils du maréchal-ferrant : « Mignonne, n'as-tu pas vu un cœur dans le vent ? » Elle sourit doucement : « Si le vent aussi ne l'a pas, tu n'en as donc plus, tu me fais pitié, garçon, tiens, prends le mien, mais tiens-le bien !
