Das der fromme Meister, sinnvoll spielend,
Deinen leichten Träumen unterlegte;
Blume du, noch in der Knospe dämmernd
Eingehüllt die Herrlichkeit des Vaters!
O wer sehen könnte, welche Bilder

endormi sur le sol, à même le bois de douleur,
que le maître pieux a symboliquement
glissé sous tes rêves légers ;
Toi qui, fleur encore dans l'obscurité du bourgeon,
tiens en germe la splendeur du Père !
Oh, qui serait capable de deviner quelles images se peignent 
derrière ce front et ces sourcils noirs
dans un imperceptible fondu-enchaîné ?
