Waldmädchen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FRE ITA
Bin ein Feuer hell, das lodert
Von dem grünen Felsenkranz,
Seewind ist mein Buhl' und fordert
Mich zum lust'gen Wirbeltanz,
Kommt und wechselt unbeständig,
Steigend wild,
Neigend mild,
Meine schlanken Lohen wend' ich:
Komm nicht nah' mir, ich verbrenn' dich!

Wo die wilden Bäche rauschen
Und die hohen Palmen stehn,
Wenn die Jäger heimlich lauschen,
Viele Rehe einsam gehn.
Bin ein Reh, flieg' durch die Trümmer,
Über die Höh',
Wo im Schnee
Still die letzten Gipfel schimmern,
Folg' mir nicht, erjagst mich nimmer!

Bin ein Vöglein in den Lüften,
Schwing' mich übers blaue Meer,
Durch die Wolken von den Klüften
Fliegt kein Pfeil mehr bis hieher.
Und die Au'n, die Felsenbogen,
Waldeseinsamkeit
Weit, wie weit,
Sind versunken in die Wogen --
Ach, ich habe mich verflogen!

Woudmeisje
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
'k Ben een helder vuur dat oplicht
Van de groene rotsenkrans,
Zeewind is mijn vriend, hij nodigt
Mij tot vlotte werveldans,
Komt en wisselt onbestendig.
Stijgend wild,
Nijgend mild,
Zo mijn slanke tongen wend ik:
Wie mij nadert brandt ellendig!

Waar de wilde beken ruisen
En de hoge palmen staan,
Als de jagers stiekem luist'ren,
Vele reeën eenzaam gaan.
'k Ben een ree, schiet langs de kimmen
Hoog als een meeuw1,
Waar in sneeuw
Stil de laatste toppen glimmen,
Volg mij niet, je vangt mij nimmer!

'k Ben een vogel, hoog hierboven
Zwierend over blauwe zee;
Door de wolken uit de kloven
Vliegt geen pijl tot hier nog mee.
En het land, de rotsenbogen,
't Woud vol eenzaamheid,
[Wijd,]2 hoe wijd,
Zijn in golven neergezogen --
Ach, ik ben verkeerd gevlogen!
