Ty, skazyvajut, pet' velikij masterišče: Chotel by očen' ja Sam posudit', tvoë uslyšav pen'e, Veliko l' podlinno tvoë umen'e? - Tut Solovej javljat' iskusstvo stal: Na tysjaču ladov tjanul, perelivalsja; To nežno on oslabeval I tomnoj vdaleke svirel'ju otdavalsja, To melkoj drob'ju v drug po rošče rassypalsja. Vnimalo vsë togda Ljubimcu i pevcu Avrory; Zatichli veterki, zamolkli ptiček chory, I prilegli stada. Čut'-čut' dyša, pastuch im ljubovalsja I tol'ko inogda, Vnimaja Solov'ju, pastuške ulybalsja. Skončal pevec. Osël, ustavjas' v zemlju lbom. - Izrjadno, - govorit, - skazat' neložno, Tebja bez skuki slušat' možno; A žal', čto neznakom Ty s našim petuchom; Eščë b ty bole navostrilsja, Kogda by u nego nemnožko poučilsja. - Uslyša sud takoj, moj bednyj Solovej Vsporchnul i - poletel za tridevjat' polej.
