Silberner Mondenschein, schimmernder Sterne Glanz
suchen im Wasser, im dunkeln, ihr Spiegelbild.
Wortlos und sinnend blick' ich in der Wellen Tanz,
schauernd geheimnisvoll fühl' ich mein Herz erfüllt.

Schmeichelnd und kosend umplätschern die Wasser mich;
in ihrem Murmeln, dem leisen, liegt Zauberkraft.
Aus ihrem Murmeln erhebt eine Stimme sich,
wecket das Sehnen mir, Liebe und Leidenschaft.

Schmeichelt und schrecket, beraubt meines Willens mich;
ruft sie zu bleiben mir, steh' ich wie festgebannt.
Treibt mich hinweg, in Verwirrung entfliehe ich;
