Colui che un tempo, con pazienza celeste bevve amare gocce di morte, appeso alla Croce espiò i miei peccati, finche questi affondarono in un mare di Grazia. E adesso cos'è questa mia tristezza, questo mio torcermi a terra pieno d'angoscia? Domando: Pastore, finirà presto la notte? E ancora: Cosa potrà salvarmi dalla morte e dal peccato? Cuore cattivo! Confessalo dunque, hai accolto nuovamente piaceri malvagi; le tracce di un amore buono, di una fedeltà devota, sono , ahimè, scomparse da tempo. Sì, e per questo che sono triste, per questo mi torco a terra pieno d'angoscia! Pastore, pastore, finirà presto la notte? Cosa potrà salvarmi dalla morte e dal peccato?
