  Von Lüften lind umfangen,
Und bin im Wind, im Wellenschaum
      Vergangen.

Ich war ein Licht, gab hellen Schein 
  Und sprühte goldne Funken;
Im Dunkel ist die Flamme mein
      Versunken.

Ich war ein Hauch, ich war ein Ton
  Von Lust und Schmerz durchdrungen;
Nun ist es still, nun bin ich schon
      Verklungen.
