Waait mij nu zoetjes
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
Our translations:  GER
Waait mij nu zoetjes,
   o zuchtende wind;
wiegt mij en douwt mij
   dat zuilende kind;
speelt om zijn wichtelijk
   aanzichtje en laat
Jesuken rusten: het
   slapen nu gaat.

Palmen, die roerende en
   wagende zijt,
stilt om mijn kindeke uw
   takken ['nen]1 tijd;
engelkens, zoetjes, ach,
   Jesuken wilt
slapen: uw’ tonge en
   uw’ harpe nu stilt.

[Vogelkes]2, zwijgt, die daar
   huppelt en springt;
dauwdruppels, zoetjes, en
   belt noch en klinkt;
zonne, uw machtige
   stralen verfrischt:
['t]3 kindeke Jezus … in
   slape … nu is ’t!

Weh mir nun sachte
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Dutch (Nederlands)
Weh mir nun sachte,
Du seufzender Wind,
Wieg mir und schaukle
Das schläfende Kind,
Spiel um sein wichtelich
Antlitz gelaß;
Leise! Da schlummert
Mein Jesulein baß.

Palmen, die rührend
Und wogende seid,
Stillt um mein Kindchen
Die Zweige ’ne Zeit.
Engelchen, leise, ach
Jesulein will
Schlafen, eur Zungen
Und Harfen nu still!

Vögelchen schweigt, die da
Hüpfet und springt,
Tautröpfchen, leise, nicht
Läutet noch blinkt!
Sonne verhalte die
Sengenden Schäft, –
Kindelein Jesu
Will schlafen … es schläft! –
