Vertobt ist jest des Meeres Wuth. 
Sie laden freundlich uns, sie winken
  Dem Schifflein das im Hafen ruht. 
    Die Segel hinauf! Hinaus, hinaus! 
    Leb wohl, du geliebtes Vaterhaus! 

  Den Anker los! Fort aus dem Hafen! 
Hinein ins blaue Meer jetzt! Fort! 
Eh' sie daheim noch ausgeschlafen, 
  Liegt weit schon hinter uns der Port. 
    Da schwindet er schon der heimische Strand! 
    Leb wohl, du geliebtes Vaterland!

Wenn Deine Hochzeit nahet,
  Leg' ich ins Grab mich hinein;
Dann fließt doch keine Thräne
  In euren Freudenwein.

Dann lacht Dir Keiner ins Antlitz,
  Wenn Treue Du versprichst;
Brauchst Dich nicht zu verstecken,
  Wenn Du den Brautkranz flichst.

Und hast Du zu wenig Blumen,
  Um sie durch den Kranz zu zieh'n;
Geh nur zu meinem Grabe,
  Da werden wohl einige blüh'n.

[Über'n]1 Garten durch die Lüfte
Hört' ich Wandervögel ziehn,
Das bedeutet Frühlingsdüfte,
Unten fängt's schon an zu blühn.

Jauchzen möcht' ich, möchte weinen,
Ist mir's doch, als könnt's nicht sein!
[Alte]2 Wunder wieder scheinen
Mit dem [Mondesglanz]3 herein.

Und der Mond, die Sterne sagen's,
Und im [Träumen]4 rauscht's der Hain,
Und die Nachtigallen schlagen's:
Sie ist deine! Sie ist dein!

Von roth und blauer Zier,
