Sieben Lieder nach Gedichten von Hermann Hesse , opus 98

by Karl Hasse (1883 - 1960)

Translations available for the entire opus: ENG

1. Ohne Liebe
 (Sung text)

Text Authorship:

  • by Hermann Hesse (1877 - 1962), "Ohne Liebe", written 1901

2. Wie eine Welle, die vom Schaum gekränzt
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Wie eine Welle, die vom Schaum gekränzt
Aus blauer Flut sich voll Verlangen reckt
Und müd und schön im großen Meer verglänzt -

Wie eine Wolke, die im leisen Wind
Hinsegelnd aller Pilger Sehnsucht weckt

3. Erwachen
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Stille Zeit kam träg geschlichen,
Alle Stürme schwiegen tief,
Alles Leid war ganz verblichen
Und die Seele schlief.

Aber heut bin ich erwacht
Tief in Finsternissen,
Ringsum dunkelte die Nacht.
Jäh emporgerissen
Aus der langen, lahmen Rast
Schlug mein Herz in banger Hast,
Hell aus langgeheilten Wunden
Brannten der Vergangenheit
Leidenschaften neu entbunden.
Seele bist du nun erwacht?
Ist zu Ende Schlaf und Ruh?
Schau, sie steht zu neuem Leid,
Neuen Stürmen froh entschlossen
Und sie zittert, und sie lacht
Allen Himmelssternen zu,
Ihren seligen Genossen.

Text Authorship:

  • by Hermann Hesse (1877 - 1962), "Erwachen", written 1903-1910

4. Liebeslied
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Wo mag meine Heimat sein?
Meine Heimat ist klein,
Geht von Ort zu Ort,
Nimmt mein Herz mit sich fort,
Gibt mir Weh, gibt mir Ruh;
Meine Heimat bist du.

Text Authorship:

  • by Hermann Hesse (1877 - 1962), "Liebeslied", subtitle: "(1921/22)", written 1921/2

5. Irgendwo
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Durch des Lebens Wüste irr ich glühend
Und erstöhne unter meiner Last,
Aber irgendwo, vergessen fast,
Weiß ich schattige Gärten kühl und blühend.

Aber irgendwo in Traumesferne
Weiß ich warten eine Ruhestatt,
Wo die Seele wieder Heimat hat,
Weiß ich Schlummer warten, Nacht und Sterne.

6. Flötenspiel
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Ein Haus bei Nacht durch Strauch und Baum
Ein Fenster leise schimmern ließ,
Und dort im unsichtbaren Raum
Ein Flötenspieler stand und blies.

Es war ein Lied so altbekannt,
Es floß so gütig in die Nacht,
Als wäre Heimat jedes Land,
Als wäre jeder Weg vollbracht.

Es war der Welt geheimer Sinn
In seinem Atem offenbart,
Und willig gab das Herz sich hin
Und alle Zeit ward Gegenwart.

7. Reiselied
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Sonne, leuchte mir ins Herz hinein,
Wind, verweh mir Sorgen und Beschwerden!
Tiefere Wonne weiß ich nicht auf Erden,
Als im Weiten unterwegs zu sein.

Nach der Ebene nehm ich meinen Lauf,
Sonne soll mich sengen, Meer mich kühlen;
Unsrer Erde Leben mitzufühlen,
Tu ich alle Sinne festlich auf.

Und so soll mir jeder neue Tag
Neue Freunde, neue Brüder weisen,
Bis ich leidlos alle Kräfte preisen,
Aller Sterne Gast und Freund sein mag.

  • by Hermann Hesse (1877 - 1962), "Reiselied", written 1911
