Sì come nella penna e nell'inchiostro
È l'alto e 'l basso e 'l mediocre stile,
E ne' marmi l'immagin ricca e vile,
Secondo che 'l sa trar l'ingegno nostro;
Così, signor mie car, nel petto vostro,
Quante l'orgoglio, è forse ogni atto umile:
Ma io sol quel c'a me proprio è e simile
Ne traggo, come fuor nel viso mostro.
Chi semina sospir, lacrime e doglie,

Taip pat kaip rašalas ir plunksna
Sukurti gali stilių aukštą, žemą, vidutinį,
O marmuras – prakilnų ar niekingą veidą,
Taip kaip sutvert jį talentas mūs moka;
Taip, mano mielas pone, tavo sieloj,
Greta didybės slypi gal ir atjauta kukli;
Nors aš iš ten pasiimu vien tai,
Kas man pačiam būdinga teatrodo.
Kas sėja ašaras, atodūsius, raudas
(Rasa iš žemiško dangaus – tyra ir paprasta – 
Skirtingoms sėkloms ji skirtingą galią teikia),
Tas pjaus ir rinks verksmus bei skausmą;
Juk į aukščiausią grožį žvelgiančio skausmingai,
Viltis miglota laukia, na, o širdgėla – tikra.

A che più debb'io mai l'intensa voglia
Sfogar con pianti o con parole meste,
Se di tal sorte 'l ciel, che l'alma veste,
Tard' o per tempo, alcun mai non ne spoglia?
A che 'l cor lass' a più morir m'invoglia,
S'altri pur dee morir? Dunque per queste
Luci l'ore del fin fian men moleste;
Ch'ogn' altro ben val men ch'ogni mia doglia.
Però se 'l colpo, ch'io ne rub' e 'nvolo,
Schifar non poss'; almen, s'è destinato,
Ch entrerà 'nfra la dolcezza e 'l duolo?
Se vint' e pres' i' debb'esser beato,
Maraviglia non è se nud' e solo,
Resto prigion d'un Cavalier armato.

Iš kur tas didis noras atsirado
Man išsiliet verksmu ir sopulingais žodžiais;
Jeigu dangus, kurs sielą man aprengia
Nei tuoj, nei kiek vėliau jos neišlaisvins?
Kodėl širdis nuvargus ilgisi mirties,
Kai mirti reiks visiems? Tik šių akių dėka
Man paskutinė valanda kankinančia nevirs
Ir laimė bus didesnė negu skausmas.
Tačiau jei smūgio negaliu išvengti,
Kuris paskirtas man,
Ką rasiu tarp švelnumo ir graudumo?
Jei nugalėtas tapt turiu, kad tapčiau aš laimingu,
Tai nieko nuostabaus, kad vienišas, beginklis,
Aš kaliniu lieku šio riterio ginkluoto.

  Veggio co' be' vostri occhi un dolce lume
che co' mie ciechi già veder non posso;
porto co' vostri piedi un pondo addosso,
che de' mie zoppi non è già costume.

  Volo con le vostr'ale senza piume;
col vostr'ingegno al ciel sempre son mosso;
dal vostr'arbitrio son pallido e rosso,
freddo al sol, caldo alle più fredde brume.

  Nel voler vostro è sol la voglia mia,
i miei pensier nel vostro cor si fanno,
nel vostro fiato son le mie parole.

  Come luna da sé sol par ch'io sia,
ché gli occhi nostri in ciel veder non sanno
se non quel tanto che n'accende il sole.

Tik Jūsų akimis regiu saldžiausią šviesą,
Kurios aklu savu žvilgsniu matyti neįstengiu,
Tik Jūsų kojomis nešioju naštą,
Kurios manasis šlubas žingsnis nepakeltų.

Nors neturiu sparnų, skrendu jūsiškiais,
Kartu su Jūsų siela nuolat link dangaus lekiu,
Blykštu, raustu vien pagal Jūsų valią,
Aš saulėje šąlu, o šaltyje – kaitra žėruoju.

Iš Jūsų norų kyla mano norai,
Ir mano mintys gimsta Jūsų sieloj,
O mano žodžiai – tai kvėpavimas jūsiškis.

Aš vienišas esu, tartum mėnulis,
Kurio mūs akys danguje nemato,
Pakol jo saulė neapšviečia ryškiai.

Ch'i veni per goderti più da presso;
E sai ch'i' so, che tu sa' c'i' son desso:
A che più indugio a salutarci omai?
Se vera è la speranza che mi dai,
Se vero è 'l buon desio che m'è concesso,
Rompasi il mur fra l'uno e l'altro messo;
Chè doppia forza hann' i celati guai.
S'i' amo sol di te, signor mie caro,

Žinai tu, pone, kad žinau, jog tu žinai,
Kad mėgautis tavuoju artumu man miela,
Žinai, jog aš žinau, kad tu žinai – esu tau skirtas.
Kodėl gi delsiame pasveikint vienas kitą?
Jei iš tiesų tikra viltis, kurią man duodi,
Jei tikras begalinis mano noras,
Tegriūna siena tad tarp mūsų pastatyta;
Juk slaptas ilgesys yra dukart stipresnis.
Jei myliu tik tave, brangusis mano pone,
Neniekink to, kuris tave labiausiai myli;
Ir meilė tesužydi tarp mūs sielų.
Ko ieškau ir randu tavam nuostabiame veide,
Žmogaus protu suvokiama klaidingai,

Grąžinkit, upės ir upeliai, mano žvilgsniui
Bangas jums nepriklausančios tvirtos tėkmės,
Kuri mane pakeltų ir nuneštų su jėga,
Neįprasta ramiausiai prigimčiai jūsiškei.

Tu, rūke, kuris dangiškąją šviesą
Užtemdei mano žvilgsniui varganam, atodūsiais užlietam,
Grąžink ją širdžiai iškamuotai ir nuskaidrink
Akims manosioms savo veidą tamsų.

Grąžink, o žeme, tu žingsnius manosioms kojoms
Kad vėl žolė suželtų, kur ištrypta buvo,
Grąžink garsus, maldoms manoms kurčiasis aide.

Aštrumą mano žvilgsniui tegrąžina tavo šventos akys,
Kad kartais kitą grožį aš pamilt galėčiau - 
Tavęs juk nepatenkina buvimas su manim.

S'amor c'un colpo e d'un dorato strale
Le viscer di duo petti arda e discerna;
S'amar l'un l'altro, e nessun se medesmo,

Jei gailestis dangaus ir meilė nekaltoji,
Jei porai mylinčiai toks pats likimas skirtas,
Jei vieno žiaurią lemtį kitas jaučia,
Jeigu dvasia viena dvi širdis valdo;
Jei siela kūnuose dviejuos patampa amžina,
Pakeldama abu dangun savais sparnais;
Jei meilė auksine strėle vienu smūgiu
Uždegt, nuskaidrinti širdis krūtinėj gali;
Jei vienas myli kitą už save labiau,
Džiaugsmu ir malonumais viens kitam atsidėkoja
Ir pabaigos gyvenimo abu vienodos siekia;
Net tūkstančiai nėra verti dalies šimtosios
Stipriausio meilės ryšio ir tokios ištikimybės;

Siela žavioji, kurioje viltis, tikėjimas gyvena –
Kaip aiškiai visa tai veide tavam matyti – 
Juk meilė, gailestis ir atjauta – tokie reti dalykai
Ir grožyje jų nuoširdžių nebūna.
Ta meilė mane kausto, grožis pančius riša,
O gailestis, malonė, žvelgdami švelniai
Vargingai širdžiai viltį dovanoja.
Kokie įstatymai ar galios šio pasaulio
Priversti mirtį žiauriąją galėtų
