Und wüßten's die Blumen, die kleinen,
Wie tief verwundet mein Herz,
Sie würden mit mir weinen,
Zu heilen meinen Schmerz.

Und wüßten's die Nachtigallen,
Wie ich so traurig und krank,
Sie ließen fröhlich erschallen
Erquickenden Gesang.

Und wüßten sie mein Wehe,
Die [goldnen]1 Sternelein,
Sie kämen aus ihrer Höhe,
Und sprächen Trost mir ein.

[Die]2 alle können's nicht wissen,
Nur [eine]3 kennt meinen Schmerz;
[Sie]4 hat ja selbst zerrissen,

para curar mi dolor.

Si supieran los ruiseñores
qué triste y enfermo estoy,
entonarían alegres
un canto de alivio.

Y si supieran mi pena
las estrellitas de oro,
bajarían desde lo alto
para darme palabras de consuelo.

Ninguno de ellos puede saberlo,
solo una conoce mi dolor.
Ella misma fue la que desgarró,
desgarró mi corazón.

Es fällt ein Stern herunter
Aus seiner funkelnden Höh;
Das ist der Stern der Liebe,
Den ich dort fallen seh.
 
Es fallen vom Apfelbaume,
Der [weißen Blätter so viel]1,
Es kommen die neckenden [Lüfte]2,
Und treiben damit ihr Spiel.
 
Es singt [der]3 Schwan im [Weiher]4,
Und rudert auf und ab,
Und immer leiser singend,
Taucht er ins Flutengrab.
 
Es ist so still und [dunkel]5!
Verweht ist Blatt und Blüt',
Der Stern ist knisternd zerstoben,
Verklungen das Schwanenlied.

y el amado rostro
misteriosamente cobró vida.

De sus labios salió 
una maravillosa sonrisa,
y como con lagrimas de pena
brillaron sus ojos.

También las lagrimas corrieron
por mis mejillas.
¡Pero ay, no puedo creer 
que te haya perdido!

Das Meer erglänzte weit hinaus,
Im letzten Abendscheine;
Wir saßen am einsamen Fischerhaus,
Wir saßen stumm und alleine.

Der Nebel stieg, das Wasser schwoll,
Die Möve flog hin und wieder;
Aus deinen Augen, liebevoll,
Fielen die Thränen nieder.

Ich sah sie fallen auf deine Hand,
Und bin auf's Knie gesunken;
Ich hab' von deiner weißen Hand
Die Thränen fortgetrunken.

Seit jener Stunde verzehrt sich mein Leib,
Die Seele stirbt vor Sehnen; -
Mich hat das unglückseel'ge Weib
Vergiftet mit ihren Thränen.

nos sentamos solitarios y en silencio.

Se levantó la niebla, crecieron las aguas,
la marea iba y venía,
y de tus ojos, plenos de amor,
rodaron las lágrimas.

Las vi caer en tu mano,
he caído de rodillas, 
y en tu blanca mano 
he bebido tus lágrimas.

Desde aquella hora se consume mi ser
y el alma muere de tristeza.
La infortunada mujer 
me ha emponzoñado con sus lágrimas.
