O briesje, zoet en teer!
Jij wekt weer 't verlangen
Naar lentezangen;
Gauw bloei'n ook viooltjes weer!

I
 Liebliche Blume,
 bist du so früh schon
 wiedergekommen?
 Sei mir gegrüsset,
 [Primula veris!]1

 Leiser denn alle
 Blumen der Wiese
 hast du geschlummert,
 liebliche [Blume]2,
 [Primula veris!]1

I
Liefelijk bloempje,
Ben je zo vroeg al
Terug weer gekomen?
Hartelijk welkom,

Zachter dan alle
Bloemen der weide
heb je gesluimerd,
liefelijk bloempje,
[Primula veris!]1

3. Frühlingsfeier [sung text checked 1 time]
Süßer, goldner Frühlingstag!
Inniges Entzücken!
Wenn mir je ein Lied gelang,
Sollt' es heut' nicht glücken?

Doch warum in dieser Zeit
An die Arbeit treten?
Frühling ist ein hohes Fest:
Laßt mich ruhn und beten!

Mooie gouden lentedag!
Innig diep verrukken!
Lukte mij een liedje ooit,
Zou 't dan nu niet lukken?

Waarom toch in deze tijd
Weer het werk aanbidden?
Lente is een hoogtijfeest:
Gun mij rust en bidden!

[Wie]1 lieblicher Klang!
O Lerche! dein Sang,
Er hebt sich, er schwingt sich in Wonne.
Du nimmst mich von hier,
Ich singe mit dir,
Wir steigen durch Wolken zur Sonne.

4. Leeuwerikenzang
Hoe liefelijk klinkt
Wat leeuw'rik jij zingt!
Het stijgt op, 't is jub'len en kolken.
Jij voert mij van hier,
Ik deel jouw plezier,
Wij zoeken de zon door de wolken.

5. Morgengebet [sung text checked 1 time]
O wunderbares, tiefes Schweigen,
Wie einsam ist's noch auf der Welt!
Die Wälder nur sich leise [neigen]1,
Als ging' der Herr durchs stille Feld.

Ich [fühl mich recht wie neu geschaffen]2,
Wo ist die Sorge nun und Not?
Was [mich noch gestern]3 wollt' erschlaffen,
[Ich schäm' mich dess]4 im Morgenrot.

Die Welt mit ihrem Gram und Glücke
Will ich, ein Pilger, frohbereit
Betreten nur [wie]5 eine Brücke
Zu dir, Herr, [übern]6 Strom der Zeit.

5.
O wonderbaarlijk, ernstig zwijgen,
Hoe leeg is 't nog aan alle kant!
De bossen enkel zachtjes nijgen,
Als ging de Heer door 't stille land.

Ik voel mij echt als nieuw geboren,
Waar zijn de zorgen, waar de nood?
Waardoor 'k mij gist'ren liet bekoren,
Daar schaam 'k mij voor in 't morgenrood.

De wereld met haar pech en prijzen
Ben ik, als pelgrim, graag bereid,
Te zien slechts als een brug voor 't reizen
Naar U, Heer, [over de]1 [stroom van de]2 tijd.

6. Herbstlied [sung text checked 1 time]
Holder Lenz, du bist dahin!
Nirgends, nirgends darfst du bleiben!
Wo ich sah dein frohes Blühn,
Braust des Herbstes banges Treiben.

Wie der Wind so traurig fuhr
Durch [den Strauch]1, als ob er weine;
Sterbeseufzer der Natur
Schauern durch die welken Haine.

Wieder ist, wie bald! wie bald!
Mir ein Jahr dahingeschwunden.
Fragend rauscht es aus dem Wald:
"Hat dein Herz sein Glück gefunden?"

Waldesrauschen, wunderbar
Hast du mir das Herz getroffen!
Treulich bringt ein jedes Jahr
[Welkes Laub und welkes]2 Hoffen.

6. Herfstlied
Lente lief, je bent voorbij!
Nergens, nergens mag je blijven!
Waar ik zag jouw bloei, zo blij,
Hoor ik herfst nu angst verspreiden.

Treurig als de wind, die guur
Door de struiken welhaast mauwde,
Zucht de stervende natuur
Huiv'rend door de matte wouden.

Weerom is, hoe vlug al oud,
Heel een jaar van mij verslonden.
Vragend ruist het door het woud:
"Heeft je hart geluk gevonden?"

Wouden ruisend, [vreemd en zwaar]1
Ben je mij in 't hart geslopen!
Steevast brengt weer ieder jaar
[Kwijnend loof en kwijnend hopen.]2
