V mladenchestve mojom ona menja ljubila I semistvol'nuju cevnicu mne vruchila; Ona vnimala mne s ulybkoj, i slegka Po zvonkim skvazhinam pustogo trostnika Uzhe naigryval ja slabymi perstami, I gimny vazhnye, vnushennye bogami, I pesni mirnyja frigijskikh pastukhov. S utra do vechera v nemoj teni dubov Prilezhno ja vnimal urokam devy tajnoj; I raduja menja nagradoju sluchajnoj, Otkinuv lokony ot milogo chela, Sama iz ruk moikh svirel' ona brala. Trostnik byl ozhivlen bozhestvennym dykhan'em I serdce napolnjal svjatym ocharovan'em.
Note for stanza 2, line 1, word 8: in some older editions of Rachmaninov's song (Gutheil 1922 and those based upon it), "дубов" was misprinted as "дубpов".
