Ô cruautez, ô durtez inhumaines,
 Piteus regars des celestes lumieres :
 Du cœur transi ô passions premieres,
 Estimez vous croitre encore mes peines ?

Qu'encor Amour sur moy son arc essaie,
 Que nouueaus feus me gette & nouueaus dars :
 Qu'il se despite, & pis qu'il pourra face :

Car ie suis tant nauree en toutes pars,

Langes Verlangen, Hoffnung ohne Sinn,
Geseufz und Tränen so gewohnt zu fließen,
daß ich fast ganz in den zwei Strömen bin,
in welche meine Augen sich ergießen.
 
O Härten von entmenschter Grausamkeit,
himmlisches Licht, das karg zu schaun geruhte;
und immer noch im abgelehnten Blute
zunehmend das Gefühl der frühsten Zeit.
 
Als litt ich nicht genug. So mag noch schlimmer
der Gott an mir den Bogen proben. Pfeil
und Feuer verschwendet er sich selber zum Verdruß:
 
Denn ich bin so versehrt und nirgends heil,
daß keine neue Wunde an mir nimmer
die Stelle fände, wo sie schmerzen muß.
