Gewaltig endet so das Jahr
Mit goldnem Wein und Frucht der Gärten.
Rund schweigen Wälder wunderbar
Und sind des Einsamen Gefährten.

Da sagt der Landmann: Es ist gut.
Ihr Abendglocken lang und leise
Gebt noch zum Ende frohen Mut.
Ein Vogelzug grüßt auf der Reise.

Es ist der Liebe milde Zeit.
Im Kahn den blauen Fluß hinunter
Wie schön sich Bild an Bildchen reiht -
Das geht in Ruh und Schweigen unter.

Luci d'autunno
Language: Italian (Italiano)  after the German (Deutsch)
Nel suo fulgore trova l'anno riposo
Con vini d'oro e frutta del pomario.
 Splende d'intorno il bosco silenzioso
 Compagno del viandante solitario.

E il contadino trova ogni cosa buona.
E, a sera, un suono di campane lungo e delicato
 Infonde all'animo un forza serena.
Mentre un volo d'uccelli regala un saluto.

E' giunto il tempo dolce dell'amore.
In barca sull'azzurra corrente che fluisce
Scorrono agli occhi belle e cangianti figure
E tutto in pace ed in silenzio finisce.
