El rossinyol refila als verds matossars; la llum del capvespre envermelleix les copes a la nostra taula. Poseu garlandes als tonells, i traieu el vi; el mes de maig ja ha començat i ens hem d’alegrar! A la taula, a la taula, porteu les ampolles! Un parell de copes plenes pertoquen al maig. Ell fa degotar damunt les flors el seu rosat i el seu blanc; els ocellets coven a les ombres del maig. Ell obsequia el boscatge amb un cant d’amor i, a les copes de vi, un so melodiós; als nois i les noies els dóna un sentiment d’amor, i magnífics dons per a besades i jocs. Vosaltres, joves i bells, doneu-li gràcies i lloeu-lo! Feu dringar les copes en honor del mes de maig! Que verdegi el fullatge, segelleu les besades! Que creixin els raïms, que flueixi el nèctar!
