Vaig anar amb tu al bosc; Ai! Que alegre era el bosc! Tot era verd, els ocells cantaven, i les bestioles feréstegues fugien. Allà on l’amor lliure i desimbolt ressonava a l’entorn de tot el brancam, el nostre amor caminava sense esperança, trist, a través del verd boscatge. Vaig anar amb tu al riu; Ai! Que suau era la nit! Damunt l’aigua, plàcida, clara, la imatge de la lluna es bressolava. Els nostres companys bromejaven alegres; el nostre amor callava i pensava com amb cada batec de les ones s’enfugien el temps i la felicitat. Núvols grisos suraven rasants, el vent de ponent bufava a través de les creus, quan antany anàvem al cementiri; Ai! Dormien tan profundament! A les creus, a les làpides, l’amor no va trobar cap suport; els morts, ens veieren plorar, quan passàrem pel davant?
