Feliç qui mor aquí com els ocells del camp! El seu cos, prop dels amics, és deposat a l’herba i als cants. Ell dorm un bon somni daurat, sota el cel radiant. Tots els qui ha conegut i que han vingut, li fan un llarg comiat. A la seva creu els parents plorosos, resten agenollats, i els seus ossos, sota les flors, dels plors són dolçament amarats. Tothom a la negra fusta, pot veure si era jove o no ho era, i pot, amb un pesar veritable, cridar-lo pel seu nom, són molt més dissortats els qui moren al mar, i dessota les aigües profundes, s’allunyen del país estimat! Ai! Pobres! Els qui com única mortalla tenen l’embull de les verdes algues, on són regirats, anònims, tots nus, amb els ulls ben oberts!
