by Heinrich Heine (1797 - 1856)
Translation Singable translation by Anonymous / Unidentified Author

Neben mir wohnt Don Henriquez
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  FRE
Neben mir wohnt Don Henriquez,
Den man auch den Schönen nennet;
Nachbarlich sind unsre Zimmer
Nur von dünner Wand getrennet.

Salamankas Damen glühen,
Wenn er durch die Straßen schreitet,
Sporenklirrend, schnurrbartkräuselnd,
Und von Hunden stets begleitet.

Doch in stiller Abendstunde
Sitzt er ganz allein daheime,
In den Händen die Gitarre,
In der Seele süße Träume.

In die Saiten greift er bebend
Und beginnt zu phantasieren, -
Ach! wie Katzenjammer quält mich
Sein Geschnarr und Quinquilieren.

Mon voisin est Don Henriquez
Language: French (Français)  after the German (Deutsch)
Mon voisin est Don Henriquez,
qu'on nomme le Magnifiquе;
nos chambres sont porte à porte.
Seule une cloison les sépare.
Les dames de Salamanca,
lorsque par les rues il passe,
retroussant ses belles moustaches.
Le regardent tout émues.
Mais le soir tout seul chez lui,
s'accompagnant de sa guitare
il improvise des chansons.
L'âme remplie de doux songes
A-vec rage il pince et gratte
dans sa ferveur poétique !
Au Diable sa musique
qui fait mal comme la colique
