Ich hört' ein Bächlein rauschen
Wohl aus dem Felsenquell,
Hinab zum Thale rauschen
So frisch und wunderhell.

Ich weiß nicht, wie mir wurde,
Nicht, wer den Rath mir gab,
Ich mußte [gleich]1 hinunter
Mit meinem Wanderstab.

Hinunter und immer weiter,
Und immer dem Bache nach,
Und immer [frischer]2 rauschte,
Und immer heller der Bach.

Ist das denn meine Straße?
O Bächlein, sprich, wohin?
Du hast mit deinem Rauschen
Mir ganz berauscht den Sinn.

Was sag ich denn [von]3 Rauschen?
Das kann kein Rauschen sein:
Es singen wohl die Nixen
[Dort]4 unten ihren Reihn.

Laß singen, Gesell, laß rauschen,

흐르는 물소리에

물에게 뭐라 하랴?
아무 말 없는 물.
물속의 요정들이
노래 불렀을 뿐.
