Der Müller.
 Wo ein treues Herze
 In Liebe vergeht,
 Da welken die Lilien
 Auf jedem Beet.

 Da muß in die Wolken
 Der Vollmond gehn,
 Damit seine Thränen
 Die Menschen nicht sehn.

 Da halten die Englein
 Die Augen sich zu,
 Und schluchzen und singen
 Die Seele [zu]1 Ruh'.

Der Bach.
 Und wenn sich die Liebe
 Dem Schmerz entringt,
 Ein Sternlein, ein neues,
 Am Himmel erblinkt.

 Da springen drei Rosen,
 Halb [roth,]2 halb weiß,
 Die welken nicht wieder,
 Aus Dornenreis.

 Und die Engelein schneiden
 Die Flügel sich ab,
 Und gehn alle Morgen
 Zur Erde [hinab]3.

 Ach, Bächlein, liebes Bächlein,
 Du meinst es so gut:

 Wie Liebe thut?

 헛되이 끝나면
 꽃밭에선 백-합이 
 시들고.

 보름달은 구름 
 속에 숨어
 눈물조차 볼 수 
 없게 된다네.

 천사들도 모두 
 두 눈을 감고
 슬피 노래하리,
 안식을 빌며.

시냇물:
 사랑이 고통을 
 이겨내면
 하늘엔 새로운 
 별이 빛나고

 가시나무 끝엔 
 시들지 않을
 붉고 흰 장미꽃 
 피어나리.

 또 천사들은 모두 
 날개를 접고
 아침마다 땅으로 
 내려오리.

물방아꾼:
 아 냇물, 내 사랑아, 
 그 말 좋다만
 아 냇물, 네가 알련, 
 사랑의 길?

 아 저기, 저 밑에 
 안식 있네!
