Abendlied der Fürstin
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FRE ITA
Der Abend röthet nun das Thal,
Mild schimmert Hesperus.
Die Buchen stehen still zumahl,
Und leiser rauscht der Fluß.

Die Wolken segeln goldbesäumt
Am klaren Firmament;
Das Herz, es schwelgt, das Herz, es träumt,
Von Erdenqual getrennt.

[Auf grünem]1 Hügel hingestreckt,
Schläft [sanft]2 der Jäger ein -
Doch plötzlich ihn der Donner weckt,
Und Blitze zischen drein.

Wo bist du, heilig Abendroth,
Wo, sanfter Hesperus?
[Es wandelt sich]3 in Schmerz und Noth
[Ein]4 jeglicher Genuß.

Avondlied van de vorstin
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)  after the German (Deutsch)
De avond kleurt nu rood het dal,
Mild straalt de Avondster.
De beuken staan nu stil vooral,
De stroom ruist zacht en ver.

De wolken zeilen goudomzoomd
Aan 't klare firmament;
Het hart, het zwijgt, het hart, het droomt,
Verlost van aards torment.

Op 'n groene heuvel uitgestrekt
Slaapt nu de jager wel --,
Tot eensklaps hem de donder wekt
En bliksems flitsen fel.

Waar ben je, heilig avondrood?
Waar, zachte Avondster?
Zo komt soms plots verdriet en nood,
Raakt elk genoegen ver.
