Hesperus, der blasse Funken
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): FRE
Hesperus, der blasse Funken,
Blinkt und winkt uns traurig zu.
Wieder ist ein Tag gesunken
In die stille Todesruh';

Leichte Abendwölkchen schweben
Hin im sanften Mondesglanz,
Und aus bleichen Rosen weben
Sie dem toten Tag den Kranz.

Friedhof der entschlaf'nen Tage,
Schweigende Vergangenheit!
Du begräbst des Herzens Klage,
Ach, und seine Seligkeit!

Passé
Language: French (Français)  after the German (Deutsch)
Vesper, pâle étincelle,
Brille et nous salue tristement.
Encore un jour a sombré
Dans le repos silencieux de la mort ;

De légers nuages planent dans le soir ,
Dans les douces lueurs de la lune,
Et de leur rose pâle, ils tissent
Une couronne au jour décédé.

Cimetière des jours défunts,
Passé silencieux !
Tu ensevelis les plaintes du cœur,
Et aussi, hélas, sa béatitude !
