Straaler og flyr.
Aandedrags-Luftninger lune og blide
Henover Skuldrenes Klipper de hvide
Sagtelig glide.
Men imod Dragtens Kniplingekyst
Svulmende vugges det bølgende Bryst
Skumhvidt, men tyst.
-- Ak om der lød dog
Smeltende blød og
Daarende mild,
Hen til sig dragende,
Kjerlighedsklagende
Havfruesang!

Sous le nuage de ses cheveux noirs
Le double feu de ses yeux brillants
Rayonne et s'échappe.
Le doux et tiède souffle de la respiration
Au-dessus du rocher blanc des épaules
Glisse légèrement.
Mais du côté du bord dentelé du vêtement
Épanouie, se berce une poitrine palpitante,
Blanche comme l'écume, mais silencieuse.
Hélas pourtant s'élevait
Délicatement langoureux
Et follement tendre,
Magnétisant,
Tendre plainte,
Le chant de la sirène !
