1. Der Geworbene

Sie gruben einen Soldaten ein,
sie trommelten und präsentierten.
Sie schossen ihm ins Grab hinein,
die Degen salutierten.

Leb wohl, Kamerad, leb wohl!

Und als ihm nach die Trommel schlug,
dem Kriegsmann in der Erden,
da schwur der Knab, der's Kreuz ihm trug,
auch ein Soldat zu werden.

Wohlan! O Knab! Wohlan! Wohlan!

2. An einen Boten
 (Sung text)

Wenn du zu mei'm Schätzle kommst,
 ...  ich ließ sie grüßen;
Wenn sie fraget, wie mirs geht?
Sag: auf beiden Füßen.
Wenn sie fraget: ob ich krank?
Sag: ich sei gestorben;
Wenn sie an zu weinen fangt,
Sag: ich komme morgen!

O Moos wie Samt und Seide!
Ich wirble meinen Hut in die Luft

umarmen möcht' ich den blinkenden Baum
glückselig über die Maßen!

5. Waldseligkeit

Der Wald beginnt zu rauschen,
den Bäumen naht die Nacht,
als ob sie selig lauschen,
berühren sie sich sacht.

Und unter ihren Zweigen,
da bin ich ganz allein,
da bin ich ganz mein eigen :
