Musik des Einsamen - Ein Liederzyklus von Hermann Hesse

Song Cycle by Will Mewes

1. Weg zur Geliebten
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Der Tag tut frische Augen auf,
Tautrunken glänzt die Welt
Dem jungen Licht entgegen,
Das golden sie umfangen hält.

Im Walde bin ich unterwegs
Und halte fleißig Schritt
Mit dem geschwinden Morgen,
Der nimmt mich als ein Bruder mit.

Den Mittag seh ich heiß und schwer
Im gelben Kornfeld stehn,
Er sieht mich ohne Weile
Vorüber und landeinwärts gehn.

Und wenn der stille Abend kommt,
Will ich am Ziele sein,
Will wie der Tag verglühen,
Geliebteste, am Herzen dein.

2. Abendgespräch
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Was blickst du träumend ins verwölkte Land?
Ich gab mein Herz in deine schöne Hand.
Es ist so voll von ungesagtem Glück,
So heiß - hast du es nicht gefühlt?

Mit fremdem Lächeln gibst du mir's zurück.
Ein sanfter Schmerz ... Es schweigt. Es ist gekühlt.

3. Wie der stöhnende Wind durch die Nacht
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Wie der stöhnende Wind durch die Nacht
Stürmt mein Verlangen nach dir,
Jede Sehnsucht ist aufgewacht --
O du, die mich krank gemacht,
Was weißt du von mir!
Leise lösch ich mein spätes Licht,
Fiebernde Stunden zu wachen,
Und die Nacht hat dein Angesicht,
Und der Wind, der von Liebe spricht,
Hat dein unvergeßliches Lachen!

  • by Hermann Hesse (1877 - 1962), "Wie der stöhnende Wind --", written 1910

4. Wie sind die Tage schwer!
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Wie sind die Tage schwer!
An keinem Feuer kann ich erwarmen,
Keine Sonne lacht mir mehr,
Ist alles leer,
Ist alles kalt und ohne Erbarmen,
Und auch die lieben klaren
Sterne schauen mich trostlos an,
Seit ich im Herzen erfahren,
Daß Liebe sterben kann.

5. Nachtgang
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Im Erlenbusch ist noch ein Vogel wach,
Sonst schweigt im grünen Mondlicht Tal und Wald.
Mir wandeln meiner Jugend Schatten nach
Und singen Traumgesänge mannigfalt.
Wie kam ich doch aus Lebens Sturm und Glut
In dieses grüne Tal jenseits der Welt,
Wo aller Träume Schar so friedsam ruht
Und doch mein Herz an hundert Fäden hält?

Verzaubert sag ich liebe Namen viel,
Verschollen ferne, die ich einst gekannt,
Und geh verloren weiter ohne Ziel
Durch der Erinnerung gedämpftes Land.
Da glänzt dein Name aus der Dämmerung,
Du Einzige, und plötzlich bin ich wach,
Und aller Schmerz ist wieder neu und jung
Und wandelt glühend deinen Spuren nach.

6. Das Ziel
 (Sung text)

Language: German (Deutsch)
Immer bin ich ohne Ziel gegangen,
Wollte nie zu einer Rast gelangen,
Meine Wege schienen ohne Ende.

Endlich sah ich, daß ich nur im Kreise
Wanderte, und wurde müd der Reise.
Jener Tag war meines Lebens Wende.

Zögernd geh ich nun dem Ziel entgegen,
Denn ich weiß: auf allen meinen Wegen
Steht der Tod und bietet mir die Hände.

  • by Hermann Hesse (1877 - 1962), "Dem Ziel entgegen", written 1906
