Abendgespräch
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG FRE
Was blickst du träumend ins verwölkte Land?
Ich gab mein Herz in deine schöne Hand.
Es ist so voll von ungesagtem Glück,
So heiß - hast du es nicht gefühlt?

Mit fremdem Lächeln gibst du mir's zurück.
Ein sanfter Schmerz ... Es schweigt. Es ist gekühlt.

Evening conversation
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Why do you gaze dreamily into the beclouded land?
I placed my heart into your lovely hand.
It is so full of unspoken happiness,
So fervent -- did you not perceive it?

With an estranging smile you give it back to me.
A gentle pain . . . It falls silent. It is cooled.
