Kreischt draußen am Fenster die Weise:

La mère prie de tout son cœur et regarde
Avec ravissement son petit qui sommeille.
Il se repose dans son berceau, si tendre et si douillet.
Il doit sembler être un ange pour elle.
Elle l'embrasse et le serre sur son cœur, elle peut à peine se retenir.
Oubliant les peines terrestres,
Ses rêves pleins d'espoir vagabondent dans le futur.
Ainsi rêvent les mères dans leurs cœurs.
Le corbeau pendant ce temps avec son clan
Crie dehors un air à la fenêtre :
Ton ange, ton ange sera à nous,
Le voleur nous servira de souper.
