Á la sombra de mis cabellos
Language: Spanish (Español)
Á la sombra de mis cabellos
mi querido se adurmió:
¿si le recordaré ó no?

Peinaba yo mis cabellos
con cuidado cada dia,
y el viento los esparcia
revolviéndose con ellos
y á su soplo y sombra de ellos
mi querido se adurmió:
¿si le recordaré ó no?

Diceme que le da pena
el ser en extremo ingrata,
que le da vida y le mata
esta mi color morena,
y llamándome sirena
él junto á mí se adurmió:
¿si le recordaré ó no?

In dem Schatten meiner Locken
(Sung text for setting by H. Wolf)
 Matches original text
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Spanish (Español)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FRE
In dem Schatten meiner Locken
Schlief mir mein Geliebter ein.
Weck' ich ihn nun auf? -- Ach nein!

Sorglich strählt' ich meine krausen
Locken täglich in der Frühe,
Doch umsonst ist meine Mühe,
Weil die Winde sie zerzausen.
Lockenschatten, Windessausen
Schläferten den Liebsten ein.
Weck' ich ihn nun auf? -- Ach nein!

Hören muß ich, wie ihn gräme,
Daß er schmachtet schon so lange,
Daß ihm Leben geb' und nehme
Diese meine braune Wange,
Und er nennt mich seine Schlange,
Und doch schlief er bei mir ein.
Weck' ich ihn nun auf? -- Ach nein!
