Aftonskimret, som mildt besken
tempelkullen, har bleknat ren

Tysta stjärnor ur hafvet gå,
stilla palmernas kronor stå,
sen därunder i myrtenskog,
Vinden suckade nyss och dog
Stilla, drömmande, stilla.

[Trött]1 najad har på mossig bädd,
Sjunkit ned vid sin urnas brädd,
Söfd af sorlande källans sus:
Barmen häfves i månens ljus

Medan hon ser i ljuflig dröm

Dans la nuit

Le bois est silencieux et le lac embrassant
la rose endormie sur la plage, est silencieux.
Les lueurs du soir tombant doucement
sur la butte du temple, se sont décolorées,
paix, paisible rêverie.

Des étoiles émergent en silence de la mer,
les couronnes des palmiers sont immobiles,
plus bas, dans le bois de myrtes,
le vent tardif gémit encore et expire,
paix, paisible rêverie.

La naïade lasse, sur un lit de mousse
s'est couchée près du bord de sa jarre,
bercée par le murmure de la source :
Sa poitrine se soulève à la lumière de la lune,
paix, paisible rêverie.

Tandis que dans un doux rêve elle regarde
le cours du temps, figé, cristallin,
et le monde entier, libéré d'angoisses et chagrins,
