Няня, нянюшка! что случилось, няня душенька! Я играл там на песочке, за беседкой, где берёзки, Строил домик из лучиночек кленовых, Тех, что мне мама, сама мама нащепала. Домик уж совсем построил, Домик с крышкой, настоящий домик, вдруг! Но самой крышке жук сидит, Огромный, чёрный, толстуй такой, усами шевелит страшно так, И прямо на меня всё смотрит! Испугался я! А жук гудит, злится, Крылья растопырил, схватить меня хочет! . . . И налетел, в височек меня ударил! Я притаился, нянюшка, присел, боюсь пошевельнуться! Только глазок один чуть-чуть открыл, И что-же, послушай, нянюшка: Жук лежит, сложивши лапки, кверху носиком, на спинке, И уж не злится, и усами не шевелит, И не гудит уж, только крылышки дрожат. Что-ж, он умер, иль притворился? Что-ж это, что-же, скажи мне, няня, С жуком-то сталось? Меня ударил, а сам свалился! Что-ж это с ним сталось, с жуком-то!

Nounou, chère Nounou ! Ce qui est arrivé, chère Nounou ! Je jouais dans le sable, À côté de la tonnelle, près du bouleau, Je construisais une petite maison avec des morceaux d'érable Que Maman, pour moi, avait coupés, Ma petite maison était complètement construite, Avec un toit, comme un vraie maison. Soudain ! Mais un hanneton s'assoit sur le toit, Un énorme, tout noir, si gros, Il remue sa moustache horrible comme ça, Et directement il me regarde ! J'ai peur ! Le hanneton bourdonne, se met en colère, Il déploie ses ailes, il veut m'attraper !... Et il vole et me frappe à la tempe ! Je me cache, Nounou, Je m'assois, j'avais peur de bouger ! Seulement un œil un petit peu ouvert, Et qu'est-ce que je vois, Nounou ? Le hanneton est couché, les pattes pliées, Le nez en l'air, sur le dos, Et il n'est plus en colère, et sa moustache ne bouge plus, Et il ne bourdonne plus, seules ses ailes tremblent. Qu'y a-t-il ?
