Was doch heut Nacht ein Sturm gewesen, Bis erst der Morgen sich geregt! Wie hat der ungebetne Besen Kamin und Gassen ausgefegt! Da kommt ein Mädchen schon die Straßen, Das halb verschüchtert um sich sieht; Wie Rosen, die der Wind zerblasen, So unstet ihr Gesichtchen glüht. Ein schöner Bursch tritt ihr entgegen, Er will ihr voll Entzücken nahn: Wie sehn sich freudig und verlegen Die ungewohnten Schelme an! Er scheint zu fragen, ob das Liebchen Die Zöpfe schon zurecht gemacht, Die heute Nacht im offnen Stübchen Ein Sturm in Unordnung gebracht. Ma che tempesta c’è stata stanotte, finché il mattino non s’è destato! E questa imprevista ramazza, come ha spazzato comignoli e vicoli! Ecco viene una ragazza giù per la strada, che si guarda attorno un po’ timorosa; come le rose che il vento ha soffiato via, così di colpo avvampa il suo visino. Un bel giovane le si fa incontro, pieno di gioia le si vuole avvicinare: come si guardano felici e impacciati i poco avvezzi complici! Lui accenna a chiedere se la sua amata si è già sistemata le trecce, che questa notte nella stanzetta aperta una bufera ha messo a soqquadro. Il ragazzo sogna ancora i baci che la dolce fanciulla ha scambiato con lui, se ne sta lì, in gioioso rapimento, mentre lei gli sussurra dietro l’angolo.
