Comme mon jardin est frais et vert ! Le parfum du lilas se répand ; Du merisier vient un parfum, Et du tilleul une ombre frisée... Cependant il n'y a pas de lys blancs, Ni de dahlias hautains, Et seulement une tête bigarrée Et surélevée de pavot. Mais le tournesol à l'entrée, Comme une sentinelle fidèle, Monte la garde sur le chemin, Tout recouvert d'herbe... Mais j'aime cet humble jardin : Il est plus cher à mon âme Que les ternes jardins de la ville, Avec leurs chemins bien réguliers.
